US Sailing national championships
As a US Sailing Regional Sailing Association, TCRSA is the official conduit for Minnesota sailors to compete at the national level. You can't enter a US Sailing national championship on your own — you need an RSA. That's us. Our sailors have already won two national titles. You could be next.
Our championship record
The overall national championship for adult sailing in the United States, open to men and women. Eliminations are held through regional affiliates like TCRSA; the finals are sailed in a different boat class each year so no sailor has a home-class advantage. Winning it means beating the best adult sailors in the country.
The oldest national junior sailing championship in the United States, first sailed in 1921 and open to sailors under 21. Teams compete in a round-robin qualifying format before a Gold Fleet final, sailing identical boats provided by the host club — so the only variable is the sailors. Wayzata Yacht Club, a TCRSA member club, won the 2024 title in San Diego.
"The Sears Cup has been a wonderful experience for our team. We learned throughout the event and got better every race." — Stonewall Anderson, Wayzata YC
How it works
You need a Regional Sailing Association to enter a US Sailing national championship. Here's the process.
Current annual membership is required to represent the region at any US Sailing event. Starts at $10.
Occasionally there may be a qualifying regatta for a championship event. Check the schedule — if none is listed, move to step 3.
For events without a qualifier, TCRSA nominates teams by application. Contact us early — deadlines vary by event.
You sail under the TCRSA flag at the national championship — alongside the crews that brought home the Mallory and the Sears Cup.
